Aquaman Director Labels Oscars Snub A “F***ing Disgrace”

Well, he hasn’t held back.

Warner Bros / DC

Aquaman has been a big hit in the box office, though the film’s director doesn’t feel the production has quite got the recognition it deserved.

Perhaps director James Wan has a point, if there’s one thing that Aquaman has been lauded for, it’s definitely the special effects work that has gone into the creation, earning particular praise for its underwater fight scenes.

So when the underwater hero didn’t feature in the Visual Effects shortlist, Wan had a few choice words regarding the film’s snub.

“Kelvin, you and your department are the unsung heroes of this film,” Wan replied. “The fact that your VFX peers in the Academy aren’t recognizing or appreciating what we/you’ve all contributed to the film and cinema is a f****ing disgrace”.

Wan shared the comment over on his official Facebook account after visual effects supervisor Kelvin McIlwain, congratulated the director for a job well done.

The film is currently on-track to be one of the most successful films in the DCEU so far with a haul of over $822 million – with that figure still growing.
