Brie Larson has finally made her way into the MCU and more than proved her worth as Captain Marvel.
We’ve been told for some time now that Carol Danvers was set to be the most powerful Avenger to date and the latest movie reinforced that.
However the movie came very close to having a slightly different ending.
“I did actually suggest some tweaks to the ending of this film,” Captain Marvel editor Debbie Berman explained to Entertainment Tonight. “It used to end with Carol flying off into space alone, and I found that a bit jarring. Like, where exactly was she going? And what was she doing?
“It felt like we needed a stronger visual to assert a more specific justification for her leaving and disappearing for so many years.
“So we added Talos and his family in their spaceship waiting for her, and they all fly off together.”
Berman went on to say that the image of Carol and the Skrulls leaving Earth together more strongly conveyed a friendship between the two parties and communicated “more of a sense of purpose” for Captain Marvel.
“It gave her more of a sense of purpose and made it easier to believe that she left her newfound life on Earth because she was with a friend we knew she cared about, and for a more specific mission.
“It gave more resonance and closure to her final moment in the film.”
Obviously aside from Danvers, the real star of the movie came in an unlikely feline form – Goose.
The cat / Flerken has become an instant hit with Marvel fans, even if we did find out he was responsible for Nick Fury’s famous eyepatch.
Despite the misunderstanding, Samuel L. Jackson has suggested that Fury may not hold a grudge, after putting forward an interesting theory about where Goose is now.
“[Goose] could be at Fury’s house somewhere,” the actor theorised to the Radio Times. “We haven’t seen him since [Captain Marvel], and there have been a lot of movies between that time and this one. So he could be at Fury’s house.
“He could be at Fury’s mum’s house. I have to say, the cat we worked with the most, Reggie, was pretty professional. Reggie was pretty good about hitting his mark, and you’d give him a snack, talk softly to him and give him a snack after he does his thing. Kind of like us, with a cheque!”
