Co-op Is Selling Cauliflower Cheese Crisps And We’re Confused

Umm…

Forgive me for already talking about Christmas, but ultimately I can’t control it when different supermarkets keep bringing out festive new treats. Plus, if it was really up to me, it would be Christmas all year round.

Now I’ve just put a debate to everyone on the desk about the potential flavour, and while there doesn’t seem to be a whole bunch of excitement, the team are definitely intrigued. Many said that while they probably wouldn’t go out and buy a pack for themselves, if one was being offered around they would 100% try it.

To be fair though, I can only imagine that it would just taste like cheese crisps, because cauliflower doesn’t really have a taste – does it?

Take Me Out host Paddy McGuinness saw a pack in his local supermarket, and took to Twitter to angrily say: “Cauliflower? Crisps? Together in my mouth? Not on my watch!!! #wrongcrispflavours“.

Lucy Frodsham, senior product developer at Co-op, explained the reasoning behind the interesting new crisp flavour, and said: “Cauliflower Cheese is one of those classic Christmas dinner sides that gets everyone excited for the big day, so we knew combining it with one of Britain’s favourite snacks would make our Irresistible Cauliflower Cheese Crisps a hit with shoppers.

“Seasoned with real cauliflower and indulgent Cornish Cheddar, these hand-cooked snacks are perfect for sharing and are sure to be a seasonal staple at parties and get-togethers this festive period.”

Either way, enough of my pondering. If you want to get your hands on one of these, then just head on over to your local Co-op and grab yourself a bag for just £1.70. Sounds a bit expensive, but I suppose it isn’t so bad if you’re a massive fan of cauliflower cheese and that the bag is 150g.
