Remember Dumbo? You know, little elephant with the ears so big that he could fly? Well he’s coming back to the big screen next year.
The beloved children’s character is getting a live-action remake that will reimagine the original tale through the eccentric imagination of Tim Burton.
The remake will tell the story of a former circus star, played by Colin Farrell, who returns to the show after coming home from war. He partners up with a struggling circus and is put in charge of a newborn elephant whose oversized ears have made him the laughing stock of the show.
Like anything with Tim Burton at the helm, the clip suggests a much darker, serious take on the classic story. The visuals do look pretty incredible though.
The movie will join an impressive list of Disney’s biggest animations being revisited, including The Lion King, Aladdin and Mulan.
Along with the trailer Disney have also given us our first look at the official film poster.
Joining the cast are Alan Arkin, who will play Wall Street tycoon J. Griffin Remington, Eva Green, Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito.
