When Disney released the trailer for Frozen 2 earlier this week they caught pretty much everyone off-guard.
Now thanks to that clip, Disney has shattered another huge film record by racking up a staggering 116.4 million views in its first 24 hours.
This breaks the previous record of the most-watched trailer of all-time for an animated film that was held by Incredibles 2 by 2.8 million views.
It’s barely new ground for Disney though, as it marks the third trailer record-breaking trailer in just a few months. The Lion King became Disney’s most-watched trailer debut ever with 224.6 million views in November 2018.
Then Avengers: Endgame broke the all-time record in December 2018 with 289 million views.
While the trailer doesn’t give away much in terms of storyline, fans have been left speculating whether a new character we saw could be Elsa’s girlfriend.
Speaking about the sequel last year, returning co-writer and co-director Jennfer Lee wouldn’t rule out the possibility of seeing the first ever LGBT+ Disney Princess.
“Elsa’s every day telling me where she needs to go, and she’ll continue to tell us. I always write from character-out, and where Elsa is and what Elsa’s doing in her life, she’s telling me every day. We’ll see where we go,” she explained.
Frozen 2 arrives in cinemas on November 22.
