Following the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, and the news that actor Jesse Williams – who plays Dr Jackson Avery in the popular ABC show – had signed on for a role on Broadway, it was unknown whether or not he would be making it onto the upcoming seasons.
During the season fifteen finale, Jackson left his girlfriend Dr Maggie Pierce to check on patients in a multiple car pile-up, but he failed to return.
“It was a creative decision,” showrunner Krista Vernoff previously said. “It was a cliffhanger. I want people to come back [in the fall] and talk all summer and wonder what happens to him. We have not mapped it out.”
But now it has been revealed that the actor has signed on for two more seasons of the popular show, meaning Jackson MUST be still alive despite disappearing, according to Deadline .

ABC announced earlier this year that it would remain on our screens until at least 2021, after main actress Ellen Pompeo extended her contract for another two more years.
Previously, it was unknown where the future of the programme stood, as show creator Shona Rhymes had stated that when Ellen decided she no longer wanted to play Meredith Grey, the show would probably come to an end. After all, you can’t have Grey’s Anatomy without the woman whose name the show is about, can you?
