In similar news, have you seen the new collab between Harry Potter and Vans?
Earlier this year, Vans teased what was coming, but now, we have a full drop. The initial announcement said: “Whether goofy foot or regular stance, Gryffindor or Slytherin, the Vans x Harry Potter footwear and apparel collection will appeal to all enthusiasts of Vans and the Wizarding World.”
If you weren’t hyped enough already, you can honour your house in style. Slip into some Slytherin soles and strut into the Chamber of Secrets with some serious sass. The Vans x Harry Potter range is available online from the official Vans site, so get yourself down to Diagon Alley.
After recent Led Zeppelin and David Bowie-inspired Vans collections, cashing in on the magic of Harry Potter was a logical step to make. The Gryffindor shoe is based on the Vans Sk8-Hi shoe (£80) and features black suede alongside red and gold stripes — embroidered with a lion.
Hufflepuff is an understated slip-on in vibrant yellow (£57). There’s a yellow crest stitched on the front, alongside the name “Hufflepuff”, while Ravenclaw (£57) is a blue and white checkerboard shoe with blue laces.
Finally, Slytherin’s shoe (£65) is a moody black shoe with vibrant green. The house’s infamous snake emblem takes pride of place on the tongue of the shoe.
Finally, there’s a Daily Prophet-inspired shoe covered in newsprint and another blue and yellow number complete with little lightning bolts.
Vans teamed up with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to bring the shoes from page to shelf. Speaking to Forbes, Vans Senior Director of Global Merchandising Ashley Ahwah explained how the Potter line came to be:
“I think it really is a part of the cultural phenomenon and just like Vans we saw Harry Potter truly transcend generations. And I think what was so fun with working on this is that Vans was entering the Wizarding World Of Harry Potter.
“And it is really the first ever footwear collection for the series, which is exciting. And we took this approach of what house you’re in and looking at the certain traits within the house. Whether you’re Gryffindor or a Slytherin, the apparel and accessories and footwear it’s really going to appeal to all enthusiasts of both of our brands. So it was a really fun project to celebrate the icon of Harry Potter.”
If you’re potty for Potter, the collection is available to buy now. Be warned though, these are guaranteed to zoom off quicker than Viktor Krum on a broomstick.
