Khloe Kardashian has been slammed by fans after tweeting that she was ‘proud to be Armenian’ on the day that coincided with the anniversary of 9/11.
Proud to be Armenian 🇦🇲— Khloé (@khloekardashian) September 12, 2019
Fans lashed out at the star, saying that it was a bit tone deaf of her to be promoting another country on ‘the day where she should be most proud of being an American citizen.’
One fan wrote: “’I’m glad but can you be a little more sensitive to the fact that it’s 9/11? How tone deaf are you and your family. First Kylie complains about how hard it is to be rich and now this.”
How about AMERICAN especially today? How time deaf— kristin (@kristinf_34) September 12, 2019
I love your heart, but on 9/11 it might be more appropriate to say you are proud to be American. 🇺🇸— Jill (@proudtexan4evr) September 12, 2019
That all good. But it’s 9/11. A day our Country was hurt by terror. Show respect to this Nation that has given you wealth 🤷🏻♀️— Martha Torres (@MarhaT69) September 12, 2019
Another commented: “365 days on your calendar and you chose today to say something like this..hmm.”
Angry trolls also lashed out at the reality star, bringing up the alleged rumour that Robert Kardashian wasn’t ‘really’ her father and that she ‘isn’t even Armenian anyway’. Pretty harsh to be honest, and no need.
However, some fans noted that Khloe had posted the tweet on September 12th, which meant that due to time zones she hadn’t actually posted the tweet on the same day as the Twin Tower’s memorial, and argued her case to the angrier fans.
Can Americans in the comments be less dramatic. Time zones exist AND the world doesn’t revolve around y’all hehe— Ժակլին🇦🇲 (@Jackie_Lizzz) September 12, 2019
One hit back, saying: “Armenians almost faced extinction in 1915! We were almost wiped off the face of the earth forever! Being Armenian is something to be proud of no matter what day of the year.”
