It can’t be easy being the person at Netflix who decides to cut shows, odds are whatever choice you make you’re going to anger somebody.
While Netflix’s latest announcement regarding Lucifer started off as welcome news, it quickly turned bittersweet as the streaming platform also confirmed the fifth season would be the last.
Unsurprisingly the excitement quickly turned to anger and like any group of angry people, the next step was to launch a petition.
We need more than five seasons! Let’s see if netflix really listens to its fans. #luciferseason6 #SaveLucifer #renewlucifer @LuciferNetflix @wbpictures @warnerbros @netflix #deckerstar pic.twitter.com/3xJYbhIgjp— Deckerstar (@Deckerstar20) June 6, 2019

WTF NETFLIX #savelucifer
The Change.org petition reads: “It had been announced that season 5 of Lucifer will be it’s last and final. This show has many more seasons left in it. I can’t understand why they would choose not to continue with the fan reaction of the cancellation after season 3 and season 4 great reviews.. So please fellow lucifans join me and unite once more to show Netflix what the fans want and how many of us there are.”
The petition has more than 9,000 times at time of writing in less than one week.
Fans shared their frustration in the comments section, one wrote: “I’m signing not just for myself but people all over the world who took lots of time & effort to save the show. While we’re insanely happy to have gotten picked up by Netflix, the show runners stated on numerous occasions that they’e always been shooting for 6 seasons for the series, & now that S4 has turned out to be such a huge success, it just doesn’t make sense to spend all the money Netflix did to acquire the show to end it after only 2 short seasons. The show & the fans around the world deserve the 6th season that was intended. Netflix – please reconsider!”
Another said: “The story is great , they have so much more they can do with the show , it has so much potential, I love it , definitely one of my favorites.”
Last week, executive producers Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich said in a joint statement: “We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms.
“Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!”
