A 27-year-old South African student was arrested after his plan to indulge on free KFC was finally foiled.

According to India Today, the man told employees that he was sent from KFC headquarters to taste test and ensure food was up to standard.

His plan actually worked for a full year before he was found out.

The man who has not been named was a student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.

The local report says he used to walk into KFC restaurants with “a lot of confidence” and tell the employees that he was sent from KFC headquarters for quality assurance.

The news was shared by Kenyan journalist, Teddy Eugene on his official Twitter account. The tweet was captioned, “South African man arrested for eating at KFC free for a year by saying head office sent him to taste if they are up to standard.”

Speaking with Xpouzar, a member of staff said: “He was so convincing because he was so confident, and even colleagues from other branches of KFC know him.

“When he came in, he rushed to the kitchen and checked everything, taking notes and then asked for samples of whatever he wanted. He probably worked for KFC before because he knows everything.”

People on Twitter have hailed the man a hero, impressed with his effort – some even called for him to be given the job officially.
