A millionaire has been struck with inspiration thanks to the rising popularity of battle royale-style games like Fortnite and Apex Legends.

A luxury product marketplace which has been dubbed the ‘Amazon for millionaires’ is looking for a gaming fanatic to create a battle royale-inspired arena event.

The request comes after a customer reportedly enquired about buying an island for a championship through the site.

Apparently the buyer wants to create a last person standing championship, with a £100,000 jackpot – which sounds worryingly similar to The Hunger Games.

Fear not though, as it turns out the buyer’s plans aren’t quite as menacing. The intention is that contestants will be equipped with Airsoft guns, ammo and touch-sensitive body armour for the three-day event, set to take place in winter this year.

The successful ‘gamemaker’ will earn around £45,000 over a six-week period should they fill the position.

HushHush.com is assisting the millionaire organiser to find a ‘gamemaker’ for the event, the company website reads:

“We were approached by one of our customers, who was on the lookout for a private island, for help in setting up the championship. We will also be handling registrations for the event when the time comes. Contestants will be provided with Airsoft guns, ammo and touch-sensitive body armour for a three-day event. The ‘last person standing’ will win a £100,000 jackpot. As it is currently planned, the event is intended to last three days, with 12 hours of competition each day. Competitors will then camp for the night. Food, camping gear and all the necessary equipment will be provided.”

The deadline for registrations is the 22nd April, successful applicants will be notified by the 10th May. The role will involve travelling to the island to assess the landscape and will pay up to £45,000 for the six-week project.

Gamemakers should have experience in large-scale event and set design, and can submit their CV here.
