Uber is offering free rides to NHS staff over the Christmas period.
The company has pledged that between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, thousands of NHS England staff will get free journeys to and from work, reports Manchester Evening News.
If you or someone you know works for the NHS, make sure that you let them know as from today (Monday December 3), doctors and nurses through to support staff will be able to claim the offer via the Uber website.
It will entitle the member of staff to two £10 vouchers which can be used between December 24 and December 26.
Jamie Heywood, Uber’s general manager for Northern and Eastern Europe, told the Mirror.co.uk: “NHS staff will have enough to worry about this Christmas, so we’d like to at least try to take care of their travel.
“During a time when it isn’t always easy to get from A to B, we hope that this offer will help them get home to their families sooner.”
Matt Hancock, Health Secretary, added: “Everyone wants to be home with their families for Christmas Day but so many of our selfless NHS staff give up their holidays to care for those who need it most.
“It’s great that Uber have agreed to step in and offer a free ride home this Christmas and I hope this makes life a little easier for our dedicated NHS workers.”
To register, all you need is your NHS email address. Pop this into the online form and by December 21 you will receive the codes you need for travel.
To add the codes to your account, you need to select ‘Add Promo Code’ in the ‘Payment’ section of the Uber app.
Registration must be complete before 9am on Monday December 24.
What a brilliant idea.
