Starbucks Is Launching A Tie-Dye Rainbow Frap

Somewhere over the rainbow

Tie-Dye Frappuccino

Starbucks is back on the trendsetting hype and has released a limited edition tie-dye frappuccino just in time for summer. The coffee juggernaut has most of the market cornered, and keen to continue the success of the Unicorn Frappuccino, is adding another splash of colour to our lives.

If anyone thinks the Tie-Dye Frappuccino looks suspiciously like the Unicorn Frappuccino, it’s basically its bigger (brighter) brother. Just when we thought we’d escaped all the unicorn bagels and gins, Starbucks is here to kick-start another trend that will have you reaching for the sunglasses.

Available NOW in Starbucks branches, coffee aficionados can pick up a Tie-Dye Frappuccino in the USA and Canada. It’s not quite the rainbow-coloured launch Starbucks was presumably aiming for. Rumours of a tie-dye frapp started doing the rounds on Reddit when one employee leaked the news early.

Be warned though, the Tie-Dye Frappuccino is around for a VERY limited time. A release for the drink reads: “Get it while you can, just like the peak of summer, the Tie-Dye Frappuccino is available only for a few days.”

The multicoloured drink will have a “tropical fruit flavor,” and is reportedly “topped with vanilla whipped cream and dusted with yellow, red and blue powder.” If you’re wondering what gives the Tie-Dye Frappuccino its unique colouring and are worried about nasty additives, Starbucks confirms it’s made with turmeric, red beet, and spirulina.

While we can’t wait to try one out, apparently the Tie-Dye Frappuccino has baristas shaking in their boots. One Starbucks employee told Business Insider how the latest addition could be a logistical nightmare:

“It looks like it’s going to be the Unicorn Frappuccino all over again, which the company said they wouldn’t do again because of partner feedback…They don’t give a damn about us and it’s obvious.”

Posting on Twitter, other baristas explained how the next few days are going to be hell:

Anyone who works at Starbucks might be dreading the Tie-Dye Frappuccino, but you’ve got to hand it to the coffee company, it sure knows how to whip up a social media storm.
