Stranger Things‘ third instalment was almost certainly its best to date, leaving us with high hopes for what’s to come next.
If you’re yet to catch up with season three, you’ll certainly want to be looking away now as this will definitely contain spoilers.
Towards the end of the series, Eleven actually turned out pretty useless, as she struggled to use her powers after getting seriously injured.
Now a fairly plausible Reddit theory has suggested that Millie Bobby Brown’s character could turn out to be the villain of the fourth season.
It all stems back to Eleven being bitten by the Mindflayer, when part of the monster gets itself stuck in her leg. The theory suggests that part of the creature could have lodged itself in Eleven to stay.
“If Eleven is infected, the Mind Flayer could control her like it did with Billy, Will and the flayed, to eventually destroy her or use her to get more control/spread,” the Reddit post speculates.
“Billy was similar in being infected, he got a bite and then he’s pulled forcefully in the steel mill where he’s ‘filled’ for lack of a better term, with the monster goo. We know thats how people are infected when we see the life guard and her family infected.”
Meanwhile fans of the show recently spotted a huge easter egg from season three. They began noticing that Murray Bauman’s phone number was actually scribbled on the side of his bunker-style home, so naturally, people started calling it.
Turns out that was a completely intentional move too, as calling the number actually takes you to Murray’s answering machine, which could contain some kind of spoiler for season 4.
“Hi, you have reached the residence of Murray Bauman,” the message begins.
“Mom, if this is you, please hang up and call me between the hours of 5 and 6 p.m. as previously discussed, OK? If this is Joyce, Joyce, thank you for calling, I have been trying to reach ya. I have an update. It’s about, well, it’s probably best if we speak in person. It’s not good or bad, but it’s something.
“If this is anyone but my mother or Joyce, well, you think you’re real clever, getting my number, don’t ya? Well, here’s some breaking news for you: You’re not clever. You’re not special. You are just simply one of the many, many nitwits to have called here, and the closest you will ever get to me is this prerecorded message so at the beep, do me a favour and hang up and never call here again. You are a parasite! Thank you and good day.”
You can listen to the voicemail for yourself below.
Could the Easter Egg actually be a hint at David Harbour’s return in the next series? Is that the news that Murray needs to speak to Joyce about? Boy we hope so.
