The Haunting of Hill House Season 2 Will Be ‘Much Scarier’

Will we be able to take the horror?

Haunting of Hill House

If the first season of Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House didn’t have you reaching for a change of underwear, be warned, Season 2 is set to be even scarier. The supernatural terror played out over 10 episodes of phantoms and frights, becoming one of the streaming giant’s biggest hits.

While it’s all change in Season 2, showrunner Mike Flanagan promises it’ll be a case of “scream if you wanna go faster” next time around. As The Haunting of Bly Manor prepares to start filming, the streaming screaming series is slowly releasing more details on what we can expect.

The Haunting of Bly Manor is a loose adaptation of Henry James’ gothic novel The Turn of the Screw from 1898. Its storyline involves a young governess who has to look after two orphaned kids in an old mansion.

Speaking to Birth.Death.Movies, Flanagan said: “We’re looking at all the ghost stories of Henry James as the jumping-off point for the season, so it very much is a whole new deal.

“It’s a cool way to expand on some of the things I loved about season one, but within the framework of a new story, without having to be restrained by the decisions we made last time.

“For Henry James fans, it’s going to be pretty wild, and for people who aren’t familiar with his work, it’s going to be unbelievably scary. I already think it’s much scarier than season one, so I’m very excited about it.”

It looks like the Haunting world is becoming a horror anthology in the vein of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story. We already know that Season 1 stars Victoria Pedretti and Oliver Jackson-Cohen have signed on for Bly Manor but won’t be reprising their roles as Nell and Luke Crain.

Pedretti is the governess while Jackson-Cohen will portray “a charming fellow”. Flanagan promises that we’ll see a few more of the old crowd, but teased some more well-known talent for Season 2.

He added, “Beyond that, I’ve got quite a few candidates among new faces who I really love, but we haven’t formally cast anybody yet.”

One thing’s for sure, there’ll be plenty of Netflix fans tuning in for The Haunting of Bly Manor.
