We were recently treated to the news that Black Mirror would be returning in June to make all of our dystopian nightmares come true once more.
Mixed into all the hype was some first-look photos that teased a very unlikely crossover, a Marvel and DC showdown.
A photo captures Avengers’ (and new Captain America) Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II going head-to-head in an intense stare-down.
“It’s the Marvel-DC crossover no one saw coming.” the show’s creator, Charlie Brooker, told Entertainment Weekly.
The only downside to the new season announcement is that this series will only feature three episodes – still, beggars can’t be choosers.
Fleabag‘s Andrew Scott and pop star Miley Cyrus will also appear in the latest dystopian instalment.
Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones act as showrunner on the series which returns to Netflix on the 5 June.
While producers are keeping the cards close to their chest in terms of Black Mirror details, Charlie Brooker has previously hinted at some more ‘optimistic’ episodes, which is pretty unusual.
Citing more episodes like San Junipero and Hang the DJ, Brooker said: “We’re doing more optimistic episodes and stories, rather than just dystopian and negative ones. We want to keep the show interesting for us.”
