There are many iconic moments that have made the Marvel Cinematic Universe the world’s highest-grossing franchise. From Tony Stark’s “I am Iron Man” to the Berlin Airport battle, “Mr Stark, I don’t feel so good” right the way through to Captain America lifting Thor’s hammer, our jaws have been on the floor plenty of times.
Of all the MCU’s memorable moments, the most arguably came in Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Endgame. Now, fans are reflecting on possibly the saddest scene of them all and THAT big Endgame swansong.
Tom Holland has made a name for himself spoiling some of the MCU’s big twists, so it’s no surprise he’s the one gifting us with a behind-the-scenes video from Iron Man’s funeral.
In the caption, he admits it was risky filming such a moment: “I don’t know why I’m so stressed posting this. The movie is already out. 😂 I guess when Barry said no cameras we all heard bring your cameras. Hands down the most memorable day of my career and still to this day, the strangest wedding I’ve ever been to.”
For those who need a refresher, Peter Parker’s mentor lay down his life and took the full brunt of the Infinity Gauntlet to play Josh Brolin’s Thanos at his own game and snap him out of existence.
In the aftermath, the great and the good of the franchise gathered to mourn their fallen comrade. Alongside obvious attendees like Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), Spider-Man (Holland), and Captain America (Chris Evans), everyone from Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) were all in attendance.
The who’s who of stars doesn’t end there. Michelle Pfeiffer (Janet van Dyne), Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt), and the Guardians of the Galaxy all made their presence felt.
It’s safe to say that Holland’s video is an equally star-studded event. Holland’s Instagram shows himself, Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Mark Ruffalo all filming each other. Benedict Cumberbatch can also be seen in the background as they all stand by the lake we waved Stark off at.
Elsewhere, there’s a growing number of people asking for the Russos to re-film the movie’s tear-jerking farewell and give Tony Stark the happy he ending he undoubtedly deserves.
A Change.org petition asks the Russos to reshoot Endgame‘s ending. Although it was tragic to see Tony leave the likes of Peter Parker, Pepper, and Morgan Stark behind, it was beautifully poetic to see his noble sacrifice.
Despite it being a pretty great way to go, there’s a growing number of people that wanted to see it play out differently. Currently, 50k people have signed the “BRING TONY STARK BACK TO LIFE #savetonystark #TonyStark” petition.
The description reads: “He has helped so many people (in the mcu and in our world), he has helped people to live (including me) to overcome their problems, to accept themselves, to face life. He’s so important. He saved our lives and it’s our turn to save him.”
