Take yourselves back to 2008. Everyone was feeling festive and Alexandra Burke, JLS and Eoghan Quigg were battling it out to get that coveted X Factor crown and accompanying Christmas number one.
Now JLS went on to make a pretty big name for themselves, with Marvin Humes forming a super-marriage with Rochelle from The Saturdays and gaining himself a spot as a radio DJ, Alexandra Burke is currently touring around the country in ‘The Bodyguard’, and Eoghan Quigg – well, he did a small tour of Butlins not long after landing third place.
Well, considering his singing career didn’t exactly take off – he’s now gone on to a completely different career, and is now a footballer.
Eoghan joined Coagh United F.C. in 2015, and later Portstewart F.C. in the Northern Ireland Intermediate League.
He’s also ditched his signature spiked hair and traded it in for tattoos and a short quaff. He also is apparently a presenter on Q Radio, and is loved up with his girlfriend. Aww, how sweet.
Discussing his radio gig, he said recently: ‘The best thing for me is that no two shows are the same, there’s always something different which keeps it fresh and that’s what I love.
‘I also enjoy the banter with Q Radio listeners.’
Discussing his time on The X Factor during a This Morning interview in 2016, Eoghan said: ‘I was 16 at the time, I was still a kid, I was still in school.
“It was a big change for me, but one of the best experiences of my life.
“I moved back and did the whole education thing [after the show], I went to uni and now I’m back after my break, gigging.”
Eoghan also famously struck up a romance with fellow contestant, Diana Vickers while they were both competing on the show.
